Set up a recycling program in your office building, and make use of curbside programs to recycle aluminum, steel, glass, newspaper, and cardboard. Ask about local programs to recycle magazines, colored paper, wood, oil, and plastics. Purchase recycled paper exclusively and encourage grantees to do likewise. If possible, paper products should be chlorine free with a post-consumer content greater than 50%. Use vegetable-based inks for annual reports and other publications. (See Recycling Resources.) If you have a traditional fax machine, be sure to purchase recycled thermal paper. Look for other office supplies available with post-consumer content, from file folders to scissors. top |
