DescriptionEarthlink is a Non Governmental Organization based in Munich, Germany, founded in 1998 and was a successor of the organisation Artists United for Nature founded in 1989. Earthlink is focused mainly in three activities: - support of sustainable development projects, for example, the cooperation with the Awá Indians in Colombia in different projects; the Brazil nut production of the Wai-Wai Indians in the Amazon rainforest; and education for sustainable use of tropical rainforest and sustainable leaving in and around protected areas in Serra das Andorinhas, in Brasil. - public awareness in Europe, at this moment with two on-going projects; one is the “ThinkShrimp!” campaign with its aim to raise awareness in Europe for the consequences of strongly increased shrimps-consumption in the producing developing countries; and the other campaign is called “Wildnis” (wilderness) with the objective of raising consciousness in people about the relationship between nature and the human beings and the consequent necessary behaviour. A third one is being developed in the area of Child Labour. - Networking to stimulate collaboration between small NGO’s working in the field of sustainable development. The web-based platform www.earthprojects.net gives them the opportunity to present their activities and to exchange their experiences.
