Getting to Mohonk Mountain House

We Recommend

  1. Fly into one of the New York City airports and take a pre-retreat site visit trip to Mohonk (see the site visit page for more information).
  2. Fly into one of the New York City airports, take a taxi, train or shuttle bus to Manhattan, take a train or bus to the New Paltz area, then reserve a shuttle to Mohonk from the bus or train station.
  3. Fly into Stewart Airport and reserve a shuttle to Mohonk.

For all car services, airport pickups, door to door, etc., make reservations directly with A.L.L. Transportation by calling 800.525.2306. Prices vary based on number of people.

Airports - New York City

You can fly into JFK, LaGuardia and Newark airports if you are traveling first to New York City. These airports serve all major airlines. 

Getting to Mohonk from NYC

Travel from the NYC airports to Mohonk is convenient and easy. You can either book a car straight to Mohonk with A.L.L. Transportation by calling 800.525.2306 in advance or you can travel to midtown Manhattan, to either Grand Central Terminal (train station) or the Port Authority Bus Terminal. 

Transportation from JFK and LaGuardia airports to Manhattan

Public Transportation
We encourage you to use mass transit!  The M60 bus will take you from La Guardia to 125th Street in upper Manhattan for $2.  You can connect to the AirTrain for JFK using the A/E/J/Z subway trains ($2 for the subway and $5 for the AirTrain).  For more AirTrain information, call 877.535.2478 or log on to www.panynj.gov

Taxis
There are countless NYC taxicabs outside of the airport cheerfully waiting to take you to your destination. A taxi ride from either airport to any destination in Manhattan is a flat fare of $45.

It is advisable to reserve a car at least one day in advance. The fare is approximately $40.

Shuttle Bus

New York Airport Service            718.875.8200
Shuttles depart every 15–30 minutes from JFK and LaGuardia outside the baggage claim areas. The shuttle will take you to Port Authority Bus Terminal (625 Eighth Avenue at 42nd Street) and Grand Central Station (89 East 42nd Street at Park Avenue).  The one-way fare from LaGuardia is $12; the fare from JFK is $15.

Transportation from Newark Airport to Manhattan

Public Transportation
We encourage you to use mass transit!  There is an AirTrain which will take you directly from Newark to New York Penn Station for around $12.  Please visit http://www.panynj.gov/ for more information, or call 888.397.4636.

Taxi
There are numerous taxis available outside the airport. The fare is approximately $35 to midtown Manhattan.

Car Service
It is advisable to reserve a car at least one day in advance. The fare is approximately $40.

Shuttle Bus

You can purchase a ticket at the Newark Liberty Airport Express agent at the ground transportation center located near the baggage claim area. Shuttles leave every 20–30 minutes. There are two different buses: One will take you to Port Authority Bus Terminal, and the other will take you to Grand Central Station. Tickets are $12.

From Manhattan to New Paltz Area

Train

Take the "Hudson Line" from Grand Central Station to Poughkeepsie, NY. The one-way fare is $12.75 during off-peak hours, $17 during rush hour (simply double the price for round-trip). Call or visit their website for schedule information. The train ride is approximately 1 3/4 hours.

Continuing to Mohonk
To arrange pickup from the Poughkeepsie train station, you can call the Mohonk Mountain House Transportation Desk at 845.256.2015 (book a few days in advance). It is $55.00 for 1–3 people, $75 for 4 people, $100 for 5 people, and $125 for 6 people, plus tax and 15% gratuity.  Or take one of the many taxicabs waiting outside the train station. Travel time is approximately 30 minutes. 

Bus
Adirondack Trailways             800.858.8555
Take the Adirondack Trailways bus from the Port Authority Bus Station to New Paltz, NY.  A one-way ticket is $18.40 (round-trip is $36.80). The ride is approximately 1 1/2 hours.

Continuing to Mohonk
You can reach Mohonk from the New Paltz bus station in about 15 minutes by calling the Mohonk Mountain House Transportation Desk at 845.256.2015 (book a few days in advance). Mohonk travel service from the bus station is free. Or you can call New Paltz Taxi, 845.255.1550.

AIRPORT—New Paltz Area

Stewart Airport in Newburgh, New York, is 40 minutes from Mohonk Mountain House. Stewart is served by American Airlines, Comair/Delta Connection, Northwest Airlines, Independence Air and US Airways Express.

You can travel from Stewart to Mohonk via car by calling A.L.L. Transportation 800.525.2306 or renting a car.

Car Rental Agency in New Paltz

89 North Chestnut Street, New Paltz (10 minutes from Mohonk). For local travel around the New Paltz area. The rate is $33/day. Pickup and dropoff are at the same location. The number of available cars is limited, so be sure to make your reservation early!
