About the Hyatt Kaua‘i Resort & Spa

This is the ultimate "Hawaiian Classic" resort reminiscent of Kaua‘i in the 1920s and 30s, with classic architecture and a serene atmosphere. To begin, a traditional lei welcome inspires your discovery and enjoyment of a culture at once timeless and timely.

In 1992 Hurricane ‘Iniki—the third most destructive hurricane in US history and most destructive to hit Hawaii this century—hit Kaua‘i and caused intense wind damage and flooding. In the aftermath of ‘Iniki the Hyatt helped bring the island back together again and has gained a place in the hearts and minds of Kaua‘i residents. The Hyatt paid their staff for a year to stay and help in a massive team effort and housed construction workers who were brought from off-island to help get the resort back in business. The Hyatt was the first hotel on the island to "come back" for a grand reopening in March, 1993. It was a true milestone that could not have happened without the team spirit you find among their employees. They definitely have a built-in sense of pride and responsibility.

Area attractions include Kaua‘i’s moody rain forests, golden beaches, and stunning Waimea Canyon. This is the place for active visitors—with water sports galore; miles of trails through rain forests and along ocean cliffs for hikers, bikers, and horseback riders; and golf options that range from championship links to funky local courses where chickens roam the greens.
